Position Summary:
The Head Coach - Lacrosse will be responsible to develop and integrate the skills of the student athletes that are in line with the values, standards, goals and excellence of the McGill Varsity Lacrosse program. Administrative tasks regarding eligibility, recruitment, scholarship requirements, and performance logs are also an integral part of this position. This part-time position has an expected workload of approximately 22 hours per week during the competitive season (Aug to Nov) and approximately 2-4 hours (Dec - July) in the low season. Annual contract extension is possible..Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage all aspects of the Lacrosse program, including competitions, practices, compliance, budgets, travel, academics, student conduct, and athlete development.Scout and recruit potential team members.Assess and support players in their athletic performance and skill development.Schedule and lead practices and drills to prepare athletes for competitive performance.Act as a mentor and guide by supervising athletes during practices and matches, providing one-on-one instruction and motivation.Supervise and mentor up to 4 assistant coaches while overseeing their working schedule and approving work hours in Workday.Required to stay up to date on all courses – i.e. CCES & Safe Sport – as per U SPORT & university guidelinesOther Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Minimum of NCCP Level 2 Lacrosse coaching certification.Previous Lacrosse coaching experience at an equal or higher level.First Aid and CPR qualifications is considered an asset.Bilingual in both English and French
