Job Description:
This role supports hardware testing and quality assurance for large‑scale robotic and automation systems deployed across multiple operational sites. The Mechanical / Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for executing test plans, validating system performance against defined requirements, and supporting on‑site hardware deployments through hands‑on testing and diagnostics.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing test cases, performing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), analyzing defects, conducting troubleshooting, and documenting results. This role requires extensive travel to operational facilities across North America to perform field testing, collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams, and ensure successful system validation.
MUST HAVES:
+ 2-3 years of (post college) QA/Hardware Testing: Hands-on experience testing electromechanical systems and automation equipment (within electromechanical, robotics, automation, or industrial machinery environments)
+ Test Methodologies: Basic knowledge of test planning, test case design, defect tracking
+ Core Testing Techniques: Skilled in requirement verification, and state transition testing
+ Technical Documentation: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
+ Diagnostic Tools: Experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, data loggers, and other diagnostic equipment
+ Scripting (Basic): Basic knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting languages (for test automation or tooling improvements)
+ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience
+ Proficiency with Excel or similar tools for data analysis, tracking, and reporting
+ Ability to support acceptance testing, QA documentation, Nonconformance Report (NCR) creation, and KPI‑driven quality validation
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills with a focus on clear documentation
+ Ownership mindset with the ability to work independently with minimal guidance
+ Highly adaptable in field‑based environments with shifting priorities
+ Able to learn new hardware systems and testing methodologies quickly
+ Comfortable collaborating with engineering, operations, and site‑based teams
+ PLC knowledge is preferred
+ Experience with robotics systems (industrial robots), packaging, or sortation automation
+ Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) or Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) experience
+ Experience working in manufacturing, logistics, or warehouse environments
+ Knowledge of safety standards and compliance testing (OSHA, ANSI)
+ Previous experience with Jira or AWS
+ Field service experience across multiple sites

This is a Contract position based out of Westborough, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.88 - $50.89/hr.
