We are seeking a Hard Services Facilities Manager to oversee the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of engineering, building services, and critical infrastructure across our campus.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Lead the hard services and maintenance function, including in‑house engineers and external service providers.
Oversee the operation, performance, and reliability of electrical, mechanical and building systems.
Develop and deliver the campus maintenance strategy (PPM and reactive).
Plan and manage budgets for engineering services.
Ensure full compliance with statutory, regulatory, and organisational standards.
Work collaboratively with the wider facilities team, research groups, lab managers, and operational teams to understand and meet business needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
Significant experience managing hard FM or engineering services in complex, high‑risk environments.
Proven experience managing engineering contractors and service providers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience within research, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other highly regulated laboratory environments.
Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status for relevant systems.
IOSH/NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification.
Experience with CAFM systems (TMS experience especially advantageous).
Additional Job Standards:
Occasional travel to other UK sites.
Participation in the managers' on‑call rota.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, O&M manuals, and engineering specifications.
Ability to balance long‑term strategic planning with day‑to‑day operational demands.
