Job Title: Grinder

Location: Euclid, OH

Shift: 1st (7a-3:30p)

Job Description

As a Grinder, you will be responsible for grinding pieces to specified dimensions, typically using tool steel. Your role will involve removing metal through the application of abrasives bonded to form a rotating wheel, and refining flat, cylindrical, and conical surfaces. You will need to read and interpret charts, drawings, and blueprints to determine product specifications, such as dimensions, tolerances, and the number of parts to be ground. Additionally, you will determine grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and the appropriate grinding wheels to use, mount and dress the grinding wheel according to specifications, and confirm the ground workpiece meets the correct specifications utilizing various measuring tools.

Responsibilities

Grind pieces to print specifications.Remove metal using bonded abrasives in a rotating wheel.Rough and finish flat, cylindrical, and conical surfaces.Read and interpret charts, drawings, and blueprints.Determine product specifications such as dimensions and tolerances.Select grinding speeds, feed rates, holding fixtures, and grinding wheels.Mount and dress grinding wheels according to specifications.Position work rest to specified height.Confirm workpiece specifications using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

Essential Skills

Experience in centerless and surface grinding.OD or ID Grinding experience.Proficiency in reading shop blueprints.Understanding of grinding principles.Ability to hold very tight tolerances up to .0005” of an inch.Ownership of a micrometer set .000” to 1.000” and 1.000” to 2.000”.Basic hand tool skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in setup and operation of Cincinnati Centerless Grinder.Experience in operating a CNC grinder.Experience in JIG grinding.

Work Environment

The work environment is a modern and well-lit machine shop with a recent $5 million expansion, adding new machinery and expanding the facility's square footage. It is temperature-controlled, ensuring a comfortable work atmosphere. The position is for the 1st shift from 7 am to 3:30 pm, in a brand new section of the facility that has undergone a complete revamp with state-of-the-art equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
