Graphics Project Leader II of the Controls Graphics team will report directly to the Controls Graphics – Graphics Team Lead position. They will be primarily responsible for managing one or more key regions, taking NAR field office requests and managing communication, layouts, quotes, assignment and QA/QC related to those requests. This position will also be responsible for managing NAR regional relationships, holding regular meetings with field customers and regional leadership to strengthen our relationships with NAR field offices. In performing these functions they may need to travel to these regions, or to our LAR office in Santiago, Chile. Lastly, This role will be responsible for using their knowledge of HVAC and engineering to empower other roles on the team, performing QA/QC for others as asked and contributing to internal standards and best practices as required. This leader will possess HVAC controls system knowledge, strong interpersonal skills and mastery of the English language.

Where is the work:

Position is located at one of our hub locations in White Bear Lake, MN,, La Crosse, WI, Tyler, Texas or Davidson, NC. Team members work onsite Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, choose your work location, balancing what your work requires.

What you will do: 

Develop and design controls graphics projects:

Receive and lay out design requests from field offices accurately and in a timely fashion

Communicate with field customers to determine needs, including kick-off meetings for complicated or large projects

Organize received documents, parsing them for relevant details and creating PDF documentation for designers to follow as they complete work

Quote work, designating cost and time required, and work with field to manage office needs while allowing sufficient time for the work to be completed.

Lay out and schedule tasks in our project management software, assigning to designers and following all needed steps through project completion

Quote needed work using our internal calculator to determine budget, and deliver finished quote to field customers.

Perform quality control for graphic Designers as required

For all projects under this role’s ownership, this role will review tasks for accuracy, completeness, utility and aesthetic value. Any needed changes will be communicated back to the assigned graphic designer.

Maintain and improve regional attachment and relationships

Hold regular meetings with field customers as well as regional leadership

Plan and execute on process improvements to meet field needs

Travel to customer offices as needed to improve communication and discuss field needs (travel not to exceed 10%)

Support and develop Controls Graphics Engineering knowledge:

This role will be tasked with reviewing the work of multiple Graphic Project Leader 1s at fixed intervals, and reporting any quality issues to both the person in question and this role’s manager to help improve quality and ensure best practices are followed.

Assist with developing and maintaining the Control Graphics New Hire Training Program, including annual review of all material for accuracy and content detail

Assist with developing and maintaining the Controls Graphics standards and best practices, as requested.

Work with Leadership to identify gaps in team knowledge, and help design and administer trainings to fill those gaps.

Communicating with Leaders Outside of Controls Graphics Organization:

Communicating with people outside the organization, representing the organization to Product Management, Technical Support, Application Teams, and Trane Supported vendors (LAR and NA). This information may be exchanged in person, in writing, by telephone, or e-mail.

Communicating with Supervisors and Peers:

Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, video conference, or in person.

Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, enforcing training, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.

Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, communication with staff, providing customer feedback and solutions.

Flexibility to work outside normal work hours/weekends, as required.

Available to travel up to 10% (including international travel, as needed).

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree in engineering or related field of study preferred; with a minimum of three (3) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Autocad drawing tools.  Proficient computer skills are required.  Familiarity with the concepts of new construction and renovation/retrofit.  Proven performance and competencies within a current engineering, technician or graphics role preferred, including:

Ability to manage Projects and work with others to complete complex tasks

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, controls software and engineering documents

Interpret and/or develop Sequence of Operations, wiring diagrams, and HVAC system schematics

Draft reports and business correspondence

Consistently demonstrated timely work and high applied hours

Ability to consistently complete Controls  Graphics projects within the allocated number of hours

Consistent highest-quality deliverables

Proven ability to consistently complete any project from start-to-finish independently, adhering to the Controls Graphics process, without any external assistance.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Demonstrated high-level English proficiency (spoken and written). Ability to effectively draft reports, business correspondence, present information and respond to questions from customers and service personnel including field customers, sales teams and regional leadership. Communicates with engineering teams to receive documents and requests. Demonstrated experience with reading, analyzing, and interpreting plans, specifications, contract documents, control drawings and electrical schematics is required. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate internally with all levels of the design team. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, train, and mentor peers and junior level controls graphics personnel in principles of HVAC controls and systems.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Compensation: 

Base Pay Range: $83.000-88,000
