**Job Summary**
**Grants and Contracts Officer**
Facilitate the grant process pre- and post-award for the university. Coordinate cross-departmentally to research, prepare, finalize, submit, and follow-up on industry, foundation, and/or government grants. Research and draft proposals, develop budgets, and manage the submission process ensuring deadlines are met. Process grant reconciliations, maintain records, and communicate with funders. Establish relationships with foundations.
Hybrid or fully remote work may be available after an initial onboarding period; however, candidates must reside within the state of Utah. Occasional in-person meetings may be required.

**Responsibilities**
**Grants and Contracts Officer, I**
Facilitate the grant process pre- and post-award for the university. Coordinate cross-departmentally to research, prepare, finalize, submit, and follow-up on industry, foundation, and/or government grants. Research and draft proposals, develop budgets, and manage the submission process ensuring deadlines are met. Process grant reconciliations, maintain records, and communicate with funders. Establish relationships with foundations. Requires basic skill set and proficiency. Conducts work assignments as directed. Closely supervised with little latitude for independent judgment.
Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master’s (or equivalency) degree.
This is an Entry-Level position in the General Professional track.
**Grants and Contracts Officer, II**
Facilitate the grant process pre- and post-award for the university. Coordinate cross-departmentally to research, prepare, finalize, submit, and follow-up on industry, foundation, and/or government grants. Research and draft proposals, develop budgets, and manage the submission process ensuring deadlines are met. Process grant reconciliations, maintain records, and communicate with funders. Establish relationships with foundations. Requires moderate skill set and proficiency in discipline. Conducts work assignments of increasing complexity, under moderate supervision with some latitude for independent judgment.
Requires a bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 4 years or a master’s (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience.
This is a Developing-Level position in the General Professional track.
**Job Duties:**
+ Serve as lead on pre-award support for all contracts, including proposal and scopes of work as needed, interpret sponsor/proposal requirements and ensure current proposal meets them, assist in drafting budgets, budget justifications, and rebudgeting
+ Manage indirect costs and benefits, as required by university and federal regulations
+ Coordinate with external sponsors and internal units on proposal submission
+ Collect necessary documents and signatures using approved university templates
+ Ensure contracts and proposals move efficiently through each state of review
+ Follow-up with parties regarding timeline changes
+ Submit proposals in eProposal
+ Serve as lead on contract post-award support
+ Review signed contracts for completions, ensure all signatures are obtained
+ Manage contract and grant congruence
+ Coordinate with GCA / OSP to set up final proposal in eAward
+ Create a UBudget to convert the current budget documents into the University’s budget management system
+ Ensure any carry forward restrictions or fiscal year deadlines are included in management reports
+ Mange distributions at PI’s discretion
+ Coordinate with other departments to ensure distributions are accurate
+ Review management reports to ensure changes are accurately reported and reflected
+ Invoice tracking and preparation of reports; Complete ePARS ( QUARTERLY )
+ Manage specific project contracts
+ Manage, review, and coordinate petty cash and gift card requests
+ Manage independent contractor agreements and finances
**Minimum Qualifications**
**EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT :** 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor’s degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
