Graduate Loss Adjuster - Technical and Special Risk
**Be the calm, curious voice that helps make sense of complex claims.**
**Job Location:** **London**
**Job Type:** **Permanent**
**Remuneration:** **Competitive salary based on skills, experience, and qualifications**
**We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior / Graduate Loss Adjuster – Technical & Special Risks**
This role is an excellent entry point into the world of specialist loss adjusting, designed for graduates or junior professionals who are keen to build a career in handling complex and technically demanding insurance claims.
As a **Junior Loss Adjuster specialising in Technical and Special Risks** , you will support experienced adjusters in investigating, assessing, and progressing a wide range of non‑standard and specialist claims. These may include technical property losses, engineering‑related claims, business interruption, and emerging risks. You will help gather and analyse information, liaise with policyholders and suppliers, assist with site inspections, and contribute to reports that support fair and accurate claim outcomes.
Imagine joining claims where no two days are the same. One day you may be helping to review technical reports following a machinery breakdown; the next, supporting a site visit after a major loss. You’ll learn how complex claims are assessed from start to finish, developing both technical understanding and professional confidence along the way.
This role offers the chance to learn within a collaborative and supportive environment. Whether based at home or in one of our UK offices, you will receive structured training, hands‑on mentoring, and exposure to specialist expertise to help you build your skills. We actively support professional development and provide opportunities to work towards recognised industry qualifications.
This position is ideal for motivated individuals who enjoy problem‑solving, are comfortable working with detail, and want to develop a long‑term career in a specialist area of insurance.
**The skills you will have when you apply**
+ **Strong academic or early‑career foundation:** A degree or equivalent experience, particularly in finance, engineering, science, law, construction, or a related discipline, is advantageous but not essential.
+ **Clear communication skills:** Ability to communicate professionally with colleagues, clients, and external parties, both in writing and verbally.
+ **Experienced:** Any experience with surveying, be that property or quantity surveying would be beneficial
+ **Analytical mindset:** Interest in understanding technical information, identifying key facts, and contributing to the assessment of complex situations.
+ **Organisation and reliability:** Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a fast‑paced environment.
+ **Willingness to learn:** A genuine interest in developing technical knowledge and building a career within loss adjusting.
**The skills you will develop once working**
+ **Technical claim knowledge:** Hands‑on experience across technical and special risks claims, supported by experienced adjusters.
+ **Professional qualifications:** Support towards Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) qualifications and structured career progression.
