Governance Manager, Wealth Management Data Management Office (DMO)

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

In this position, you will play a key strategic role in organizing data safeguards that can unlock business value:

Provide expertise and counsel to WM globally on sound approaches to the usage and protection of critical business DataDrive value-added holistic risk management activities encompassing Data Governance, Privacy and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/Model Risk disciplines.Develop and execute strategies to enable WM to fulfill new Data policy and risk management requirementsOrganize appropriate data protection guardrails that can enable WM businesses to obtain sustainable value from cutting-edge Data and AI projects

What will you do?

Support WM DMO Director (and broader WM DMO / Data & AI Teams), in the execution of essential 1st LoD Data Management and Governance activities. This includes:

Develop and maintain Data user monitoring capabilities for AI-related deploymentsDevelop and sustain key internal stakeholder communication activities to promote key messages on Data/Privacy/AI safeguards, and organize global discussions on AI advocacyAlign core Data Policy, Governance and Privacy activities with AI readiness efforts to enable WM businesses to derive business value from AI in a sustainable manner.Develop and maintain critical linkages – exchange of information, participation in working groups and initiatives, contributions to Enterprise status reporting – between WM DMO and Enterprise Information Management Risk (EIMR) Team, Chief Data Office, Global Privacy and Model RiskDevelop new status reports and metrics on WM’s progress with new Data Policy requirements, and other transformational initiatives.Ad hoc projects and tasks as directed

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

5-7 years in a combination of knowledge, skill and background within Data Governance/Management or comparable disciplineUndergraduate university degree or equivalent – Emphasis on Data, Science, Statistics or Commerce/BusinessExcellent knowledge of investment industry products, services and regulatory considerationsStrong problem solving, analytical (including qualitative and quantitative analysis) and research skills are essential, as well as advanced desktop PC skills (e.g. excellent knowledge in application of Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint)Ability to communicate and interact effectively with senior executives and multiple global stakeholdersStrong communication skills, and ability to synthesize data-driven insights into effective recommendations for action

Nice-to-have:

Excellent knowledge of Wealth Management and RBC’s products, processes and organizationRecognized Industry Qualifications – Industry Securities / Options / Futures/Investment Management or equivalent courses.Knowledge, skill and background in either operational risk practices, audit or compliance functions, securities operations within one or more businesses in WM (or comparable business).
