As a Junior Economist in the EM Edge Economics team in Nigeria, you will directly cover African countries and work closely with both EM Edge and EMEA EM teams. You will support Senior Economists, engage with internal and external stakeholders, and help drive impactful research. Job responsibilities
Analyze macroeconomic and market developments in African economies. Support Senior Economists in research and analysis of Africa’s economic landscape. Collaborate with EM Edge and EMEA EM teams to formulate views and assist with publications. Maintain and improve spreadsheets and research processes. Liaise with economists and strategists to develop market insights. Engage with external clients and assist internal sales and trading teams. Contribute to the development of research publications and presentations. Apply statistical programming skills to enhance data analysis. Work independently and meticulously with large datasets and databases.Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Strong economics knowledge with relevant experience in African economies. Experience in economic research or related field. Good understanding of political, economic, and business developments in Africa and global connections. Experience working with datasets and databases. Ability to work independently and with attention to detail. Proficiency in spreadsheet management and data analysis. Collaborative attitude and strong work ethic. Intellectual curiosity and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Experience with statistical programming languages or packages such as Eviews or Python. Master’s degree, preferably in Economics or Finance. Experience engaging with external clients and internal stakeholders. Familiarity with research publication processes. Knowledge of frontier and emerging market economies. Ability to improve and streamline research processes. Strong communication and presentation skills.
