The Programme Manager is a key member of the gateretail IT Project Delivery team responsible for the planning, executing and delivery of strategic IT projects from initiation through completion to align with business objectives. The Programme Manager will lead multiple key projects in person. This role is responsible for determining and delivering solutions to approved budget and schedule commitments, while meeting required quality and compliance standards. General focus areas include stakeholder management, risk management, and delivery of business benefit. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Especially important are skills and experience related to managing large scale project delivery in complex business environments and changing priorities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Create and manage project plans for the gateretail IT projectsManage and coordinate project budgets, forecasts, tasks, schedules, risks, change management, and status to support effective decisions and project reporting to stakeholders and steering committeesManage and coordinate interdependencies between project work streamsManage relationships with senior business stakeholders to ensure the effective capturing of business requirements and commitment to project objectives.Drive effective risk and issue management, ensuring existing processes are used effectively; ensure problems are resolved and escalate as appropriateMatrix manage various delivery teams and provide the management and governance necessary to optimise successOwn project improvement plans and oversee execution of remediation plansManage changes to project scope, ensure that all impacts and changes are approved and appropriately communicated to stakeholders and steering committeesDevelop and facilitate sustained service transition plans including controlled hand-over into support and maintenanceEnsure expected benefits realization is consistent with project deliverables and clearly understood by stakeholders and project teamsEnsure leadership teams and key business stakeholders are communicated regularly of progress or challenges to avoid delays to the delivery of the projectThe gateretail Programme Manager must be capable of working with ambiguity, handling challenging conversations across multiple levels within the company and with partners. Passionate about continuous improvement and optimisation, the gateretail Programme Manager is a natural team-player, with the ability to take people along while staying firm on the objectives and direction of project delivery.
Core Competencies and Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; business or science disciplines preferred.
• Strongly qualified by job experience in a related field.
• 10 years of IT and business/industry work experience.
• 10 years of leadership experience.
• 10 years developing and executing strategic plans and/or project portfolios.
• 5 Years working with retail systems.
• Knowledge of IT operating/delivery models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting and risk management
• Familiarity with information management practices, system development life cycle management, IT services management, infrastructure, and operations
• Exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation
• Strong leadership skills
• Excellent analytical and technical skills
• Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Experience managing multiple priorities based on changing business needs is essential.
