Global Gum Platform Technical Lead

You identify, define and solve complex business problems by applying your broad and in-depth technical knowledge to the most impactful challenges in the category. As an expert in your technical specialty, this leadership role requires you to interact with senior management and cross-functional teams to meet current and future strategic demands of the business. **How you will contribute** You will plan, lead and manage complex technically focused projects while using your technical gum expertise to guide, direct and influence activities lead by others. To ensure the right solutions are developed, you will use consumer knowledge and your technical expertise to identify future opportunities and to execute programs with technical rigor. This role will require you to work with cross-functional partners develop and align resource and budget needs for projects. You will be responsible for the technical outcomes of global developments related to evaluating new ingredients, formulas, recipes and processes and understanding the impact on scale up between laboratory and production facilities. You will also be responsible for quantifying the technical risks and partnering with Process Technology and Supply Chain to make recommendations and influence stakeholders. As the senior technical leader in gum technology, you will also be key to building the expertise and growth of the junior gum organization, ensuring the right skills are built within the Platform and regional teams. You will do this though mentoring, coaching and leading training programs to grow the technical talent at all career stages. **What you will bring** A desire to drive your future and accelerate your career and the following experience and knowledge: + Using your excellent technical expertise to set and deliver the R&D agenda + Effectively influencing category leads (e.g. vice presidents) + Using critical thinking and thought leadership to ensure that solutions are developed for complex issues + Working collaboratively in a fast-paced commercial and technical environment + Coaching and mentoring others **More about this role** **What you need to know about this position:** This role will have a high level of visibility across the organization as it is critical to the growth agenda of our business and the gum R&D organization. There will also be opportunities to partner with peers in Biscuit and Bakery, Chocolate, Powdered Beverages and Meals on broader technical and organizational programs. **What extra ingredients you will bring:** You will have demonstrated mastery of gum technology through a range of impactful developments and launches. Through this you will have a full understanding of ingredient formulation, sensory and processing interactions, including the ability to drive for specific product attributes while balancing margin. You will already have relationships with key raw material suppliers and will understand the landscape of material properties. Your experience will help you translate consumer and business needs into a technical strategy with tangible long, mid and short-term programs. You will understand the complexity of formulation and its interaction with our Manufacturing and Supply Chain and be able to navigate the needs of our partners to create and drive programs that solve. To execute those programs, you will have full use of our extensive lab and pilot facilities and will secure Platform and Regional resources in partnership with the Gum Platform Leader. **Education / Certifications:** BS degree in Food Science, Engineering or other technical degree or postgraduate program **Job specific requirements:** 8-10 years of experience in related field Demonstrated mastery of gum formulation and commercialization Ability to navigate organizational complexity across international Business Units (LATAM, AMEA) **Travel requirements:** 30% with highs and lows depending on specific project demands. Typical travel levels may be significantly lower **Work schedule:** Onsite role with 3 days per week in the office, Monday-Friday. **Salary and Benefits:** The base salary range for this position is $137,300 to $188,815; the exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education and location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
