Role

Applies developed subject matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within established guidelines and recommends appropriate alternatives related to Customs Operations. Works on problems of diverse day to day import/export operations at country/regional level. May act as a team or project leader providing direction to team activities and facilitates information validation and team decision making process. Exercises independent judgment within generally defined policies and Customs Operations import/export expertise to identify and select solutions. Ability to handle the most unique situations for Customs Operations. May seek advice in order to make decisions on complex business and compliance issues.

Responsibilities:

Ensures compliance with complex of and country/regional/global trade regulations in a rapidly changing regulatory environmentManages customs broker activities and works with customs broker performance metrics, driving alignment to Customs Operations turn-around-time (TAT) & compliance to customs broker manualWorks to support the Regional Customs Broker StrategySupports Customs Broker Assessment & provides audit supportEngages with HPE Global Trade and other organizations as requiredSupports regional advocacy efforts as required (engagement with government authorities)Supports emerging markets exploration & execution and provide Customs Operations guidanceIdentifies opportunities for Customs Operations process improvement and leads/develops recommendations and provides insight for management.Communicates Customs Operations requirements and guidelines to the regional and global business unit teams.

 Skills Required:

Ability to understand and interpret U.S./Country/International trade regulations in a rapidly changing regulatory environment.Customs Broker Management experience (establishing TAT, measuring performance, ensuring compliance to contract, broker manual, HPE internal policies/government regulations.Experience with conducting broker assessments, conducting comparison across multiple broker partners and prior experience with government authorities during Customs audits.Demonstrated experience with responding to routine inquiries by Government authorities.Good understanding of supply chain trading flows.Strong analytical skillsBasic understanding of supply chain processes (plan, source, make deliver).Basic ability to understand Customs requirements and engage on projects for emerging marketsStrong written and verbal communication, presentation and influencing skills; mastery in English and local language, proficient communication and influencing skills; mastery in English and local language.Extensive knowledge of Advanced MS OfficeGood internal and external relationship management skills.Good project management skills.Strong business acumen and technical Customs Operations knowledge.Understanding of national and international trade requirements to align customs/trade function with business objectives.Strong analytical skillsLeadership skills including team-building and conflict resolution and management.Capable to work across multiple countries and businesses; works horizontally and vertically. 

Experience Required:

First level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced university degree preferred.Typically 4-6 years of experience in a customs/global trade function.
