Geotechnical Department Manager

The Geotechnical Department Manager oversees a multidisciplinary team delivering projects across industrial, commercial, and residential markets. This role focuses on departmental leadership, operational management, project excellence, and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Set long‑term goals and support company growth strategies.Manage budgets, resources, proposals, and project pipelines.Lead scheduling, staffing, QA/QC, and daily operations.Coordinate with architects, civil/structural teams, and technical staff.Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Mentor staff and foster a positive, high‑performing team culture.Maintain client communication, oversee contracts, budgets, and change orders.Identify opportunities for revenue growth and improved efficiency.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering (or related field).Michigan PE license or eligibility.10+ years of progressive civil/geotechnical engineering experience.Proficient with geotechnical software and Microsoft Office.Strong leadership, communication, and financial management skills.Familiarity with Michigan standards and regulations.Proven success in project delivery, team leadership, and client management.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn Hills, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $55.00/hr.
