JOB DUTIES:
Provide geospatial analyses and support for multiple program areas. Assist program staff in data collection, data processing, analyses, reporting, and presentation of results on projects and studies. Prepare technical reports, correspondence, manuals, procedures, and other written materials. Meets with users to define geospatial requirements, technical specifications, operational problems, and customized solutions. Assists with training in geospatial analytical procedures. Maintain GIS software on GIS laboratory computers. Provide project and geodatabase guidance to GIS staff. Provide end user support for GIS software to personnel. Conducts necessary research on complex technical problems. Develops and implements solutions to meet needs. Provides on-call support on nights and weekends. Test new technologies to recommend efficient and cost-effective methods for system and network operations. Schedule and prepare team meetings and education material with department staff. Improve and enhance databases key to programs areas. Develop new and enhance existing applications as necessary for program areas. Adapt, enhance, develop and/or implement cutting-edge techniques that utilize remote sensing, environmental data and modeling to derive products needed in program areas.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Education Required: Bachelor’s degree in Forestry, Geography, Mathematics, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Experience Required: Two (2) years of full-time experience in a research assistant position working with geographic surveying position, including at least two (2) years of experience with: geospatial processing and analysis software including ArcGIS; creating, manipulating, organizing, maintaining, geo-processing, analyzing and visualization of spatial data; environmental geospatial modeling, remote sensing and spatial statistics; relational database concepts; identification of spatial temporal turbidity patterns in coastal waters using GIS and remote sensing techniques; C#.
