Position Summary Information Position Summary Slippery Rock University invites applications for a temporary, full-time position in the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Geosciences beginning August 2026 for the 2026-2027 academic year. We are seeking a broadly trained geologist to teach undergraduate courses in hydrology and/or mineralogy/petrology. The faculty member would also be asked to prepare accompanying laboratory activities to support these courses. We also anticipate the faculty member teaching undergraduate level science courses designed for non-majors as part of the general education program. It is expected that the successful candidate will have a commitment to the education of a diverse population and actively participate in the department. Beyond teaching, all faculty are expected to participate in scholarly growth and professional development and service per the collective bargaining agreement. Faculty members are also required to hold student consultation hours (office hours) in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. The position will be 100% in person. Minimum Qualifications PhD in geology (broadly defined), environmental science, or a related discipline required. A commitment to the education of diverse populations and the successful performance in an interview are required. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching geology or hydrology at the undergraduate level.
