This position exists to perform semi-skilled and skilled tasks in a variety of maintenance areas. This includes but is not limited to making adjustments to machinery, replacing parts, repairing buildings, equipment, custodial duties and miscellaneous articles and providing assistance to other maintenance staff such as the lock smith, carpenters, mason, painter, and groundskeeper. This position has direct contact with incarcerated individuals. Up to two (2) positions may be filled by consideration of all applicants to this posting **Minimum Qualifications** To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held. + Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trade areas (e.g. mechanics, masonry, welding, electrical, plumbing and carpentry) sufficient to assist licensed trades workers and to repair machinery, tools and facilities in a timely and safe manner. + Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties. + Ability to safely use hand and power hand tools. + Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks, tractors, and other ground and road maintenance equipment. + Ability to follow oral and written instructions. + Ability to provide work instructions to unskilled helpers. Please note: This position may require a MN Class B Commercial Licensure (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement. Selected finalist who do not currently possess the CDL may be required to obtain the license at their own expense during their probationary period. **Preferred Qualifications** The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position: + Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) + Experience with commercial floor care practices and making repairs to commercial floor care equipment. + Experience with lawn care including the ability to operate all types of lawn care equipment. + Experience with snow plowing including the ability to operate small tractors, plow trucks, snow blowers and front end loaders. + Current credential as a non-commercial pesticide applicator. + Skills and abilities necessary to fabricate, install, remove, repair and select proper materials to perform various maintenance, repair and construction. **Physical Requirements** The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required prior to hire for this position. These components consist of a tuberculosis, commercial driver's license (CDL) drug test, and/or respiratory clearance. The selected finalist may be required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position.
