Job Title: General OperatorJob Description

We are seeking a dedicated General Operator to join our team. This role involves working throughout the year on various tasks, including receiving and processing crops, operating machinery, and ensuring the safety and quality of our products. You will be involved in activities such as drying, shelling, labeling, and packaging seeds, as well as assisting in warehouse operations.

ResponsibilitiesReceive and process trucks hauling crops for weighing and unloading.Perform a wide range of harvest activities, including husk and sort operations.Operate the dryer to ensure crops are dried within safety, quality, and financial guidelines.Manage the shelling and storage of crops from bins in the dryer facility.Supply the Conditioning department with a steady supply of seeds.Apply appropriate treatments to seeds.Label, tag, bag, and palletize seeds.Enter inventory information into the computer system.Stage seeds for shipment in the warehouse.Retag in-house seeds and re-bag returned seeds.Inspect and wash pro boxes to ensure cleanliness.Transition into warehousing and packaging roles from August onwards.
Essential SkillsAbility to lift 50-60 lbs and perform repetitive tasks.Capability to sit and stand for long periods and climb stairs.Ability to differentiate colors and speak/read English.Forklift experience (Type: Sitting) is preferred.Must not be colorblind.Steel-toed shoes are required.
Additional Skills & QualificationsNo educational requirements.Forklift experience is a plus.Ability to work in environments with common allergens, such as insects and chemicals.

Work Environment

This role involves working both indoors and outdoors, with a work week of 40+ hours. Shifts may vary depending on business needs, and employees should be prepared for 12-hour shifts in dusty environments typical of agricultural operations. The facility enforces a strict no-smoking policy, and protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes is required. Candidates should be ready to work in potentially dirty conditions due to corn and insecticide dust.

This is a Contract position based out of Switz City, Indiana.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.50 - $22.50/hr.
