Job SummaryAs a General Manager within Compass, you will lead a dynamic, client facing operation that includes a barista bar, grab and go retail, and catering services. This role is responsible for the overall performance of the account, balancing exceptional hospitality with disciplined financial and operational management. Working in close partnership with the Executive Chef, the General Manager serves as the primary operational leader on site, overseeing a small, high impact team while ensuring service excellence, client satisfaction, and consistent results across all dining platforms.
Responsibilities
Provide full operational and financial oversight for a corporate dining account including barista bar, grab and go, and catering services
Lead a team of approximately five hourly associates with the Executive Chef as the only other salaried leader on site
Own all aspects of foodservice operations including service standards, food quality, safety, sanitation, and guest experience
Manage P and L performance including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting
Ensure all service timelines, operational deadlines, and client expectations are consistently met
Partner closely with the Executive Chef on menu execution, production planning, and catering delivery
Hire, train, coach, and develop associates while maintaining strong employee engagement and accountability
Conduct regular team meetings and maintain clear, professional communication across all levels
Audit operations to ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements, and food safety standards
Build strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal Compass partners
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Foodservice Management, Hospitality, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
Four or more years of foodservice management experience in retail, corporate, or contract dining environments
Demonstrated experience managing financials, budgets, and cost controls
Strong knowledge of food, coffee, catering, and retail dining trends with a focus on quality and consistency
Experience overseeing retail and grab and go operations
Proven leadership, coaching, and team development skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interact effectively with clients, associates, and senior leadership
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and standard business systems
