General Maintenance Technician

What this job involves
 

This position requires a versatile General Mechanic with expertise in fire life safety systems, pharmaceutical environments, and carpentry. You'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring safety and compliance in sensitive environments. Your role will involve working with industrial machinery, facility systems, and specialized pharmaceutical equipment, as well as performing carpentry work and maintaining fire safety systems.

Your day-to-day tasks will include

Performing routine maintenance and repairs on diverse mechanical equipmentDiagnosing mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and manual inspection techniquesConducting preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performanceReading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematicsInspecting, maintaining, and repairing fire life safety systemsPerforming carpentry work, including building and repairing structures and fixturesAdhering to safety protocols, regulations, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)Maintaining accurate records of repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used

Physical Demands and Work Environment

May require working in various environments, including indoor settings, cleanrooms, and pharmaceutical production areasOccasional exposure to noise, dust, and chemicalsMay involve working in confined spaces or at heightsAbility to lift and move heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs) is requiredFlexible schedule may be necessary, including evenings, weekends, or on-call shiftsMust be comfortable wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 2 years of experience each in fire life safety systems, pharmaceutical/cleanroom environments, and carpentryProficiency in using various hand and power tools, including carpentry toolsStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to read and understand technical documentation and blueprintsKnowledge of fire life safety codes and standardsUnderstanding of cleanroom protocols and contamination controlCarpentry skills, including measuring, cutting, and assembling wooden structures

Preferred Qualifications

Vocational training or associate degree in mechanical engineering, carpentry, or related fieldNICET Fire Alarm Systems certificationFamiliarity with cGMP guidelines and FDA regulationsExperience with specialized pharmaceutical equipmentAdvanced computer skills for record-keeping and parts ordering
