**Job Title: Gas Meter Inspector (Entry Level)**
**Job Description**
As an Inspection Technician, you will be responsible for performing periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters. This entry-level position requires reliability and professionalism, as you will be entering customers' homes to ensure safety and compliance. The role involves walking, climbing stairs, and ladders during an eight-hour workday in all weather conditions. A valid driver's license and vehicle are necessary as you will be traveling within the utility territory.
**Responsibilities**
+ Perform periodic facility inspections and surveys on utility-owned gas meters.
+ Complete all necessary documentation.
+ Ensure readings and records comply with company and regulatory requirements.
+ Support the successful completion of regulatory audits and inspections.
+ Conduct integrity surveys, including direct assessments and close interval surveys.
+ Perform audit reviews with operations and provide support during audits.
**Essential Skills**
+ Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Previously obtained a high school diploma or equivalent.
+ Basic to intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
+ Possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, and initiative skills.
+ Ability to work both in a team setting and individually with minimal supervision.
+ Interface with technical services, government agencies, and emergency responders.
+ Demonstrate an intermediate knowledge of mathematics, algebra, and mechanical aptitude.
+ Possess a valid state driver’s license.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ 1+ year of driving experience.
+ Mechanical background, such as Cable Techs, HVAC, Piping, or Auto Mechanic, is a plus.

**Work Environment**
This is a 100% field-based position with flexibility to travel within the utility territory, primarily in Brooklyn and Queens. Standard operating hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, with optional shifts on Saturdays. Training begins with OSHA orientation and classroom sessions, followed by certification testing. Equipment provided includes a simple tool set, flashlight, gas detector, field binder, ID badges, tablet, and safety gear. Communication with supervisors regarding attendance is expected.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Long Island City, New York.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
