Job purpose

The Functional Safety Manager, as part of the Functional Safety Competency, is integral to assuring that the product continues to be able to meet the targeted ISO 26262 ASIL level as changes are made during production. This role gives the opportunity to work in a variety of product areas, including electrification, part of the growing market in Electric Vehicles.

Key responsibilities

Responsible for products that are in production and have a change request that will impact Functional SafetyDetermine which work products need to be updatedLead the organization in updating the necessary work productsWork with the RCQ group to complete necessary confirmation measuresCommunicating safety anomalies to BorgWarner management and to the customer and participate in development of the remedyReport the risk and status of the project Live and communicate the BorgWarner Safety Culture at all timesSome travel and a flexible work schedule on occasion

What we are looking for

Bachelor or Master´s degree in Electrical or Software Engineering, with a focus on electric drive systems, power electronics, or electric motors. 5+ years’ experience as functional safety engineer/ manager2 years relevant work experience, in product development (ideally in automotive related products)Experience with ISO 26262, specifically parts 4-6Ability to communicate complex ideas succinctly and persuasively to peers, management, customers, and suppliersStrong technical leadership, planning, and organizational skillsStrong analytic and problem-solving skillsCapable of multi-tasking complex projects while maintaining customer timeframesProject Management Experience or Certification preferredOrganized and structured work style and attention to detail are requiredFluency in English is required. German and/or French would be an advantageExcellent communication and presentation skillsWillingness to travel up to 10% is preferred

Recruitment process

CV Review - Your application and CV will be reviewed to assess your qualifications and experience in relation to the role requirements.Phone Interview (approximately 30 minutes) - This initial conversation is designed to discuss your background, expectations, and answer any preliminary questions.Technical Interview(s) (1 to 1.5 hours, one or two rounds) - Conducted in English with the manager and an additional team member, this stage focuses on evaluating your technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. The interview can be held via Teams or at our office.Final Interview (45 minutes) - A meeting with a representative from the HR department to ensure alignment with our company culture and discuss the next steps. This interview might also take place via Teams or at our office.
