Full Stack Software Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Full Stack Engineer with strong backend expertise and cloud architecture experience to design, build, and optimize large‑scale simulation systems. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, thrives in fast‑paced environments, and can provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement Azure Cloud Architecture to execute high‑volume simulation test cases in batch mode.

Develop full stack solutions with a strong emphasis on backend engineering using C#/.NET Core, C++, and Python.

Integrate APIs and ingest data from multiple external sources into the simulation platform.

Troubleshoot and debug complex codebases using Microsoft Visual Studio.

Design and manage databases for SQL, NoSQL, and Data Lake architectures.

Participate in installation, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting alongside internal teams and clients.

Develop and deploy software updates; work directly with clients on validation and rollout.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and technicians throughout the project lifecycle.

Continuously recommend improvements to enhance system performance, development efficiency, and team productivity.

Minimum Qualifications

3–5 years of experience in Full Stack development with a strong backend focus.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 3–5 years of engineering experience.

2+ years designing and implementing Azure Cloud enterprise applications, including batch queue setup and parallel processing architectures.

2+ years leading software platform architecture projects from planning through operations.

2+ years of database design experience (SQL, NoSQL, Data Lakes), including performance tuning for large datasets (e.g., track routes, train consists).

2+ years designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating data pipelines from multiple external sources (strong JSON handling).

Strong object‑oriented programming, troubleshooting, and debugging skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to work independently with strong self‑motivation and work ethic.

Quick learner with the ability to acquire new technical skills rapidly.

Creative problem‑solver able to think outside traditional solutions.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Desired Skills

Proficiency with C#/.NET Core, C++, Python, and batch scripting languages.

Experience with API/Web Service Integration.

Familiarity with GIS data.

Experience generating scheduled and on‑demand technical reports.

Experience using Kanban tools such as Trello or Jira.

Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.

Innovative, resourceful approach to solving complex problems.

Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).

Experience with modeling & simulation or railroad industry knowledge is a plus.

Team leadership experience with an interest in coaching others.

Comfortable diving into large, complex systems and unfamiliar codebases.

Working knowledge of engineering math (mass, acceleration, friction, force, inertia, momentum, work, power, etc.).

This is a Contract position based out of Jacksonville, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $57.69/hr.
