Full Stack Engineer II - Earner

**About the Role**
Uber aims to help earners make a sustainable living via the platform, and so aside from trip earnings, we have multiple Benefits programs live globally to help earners retain working flexibility while earning per industry standards. As part of the Earner Benefits team, you will have direct responsibility to build and launch new earner benefits in the target marketplaces. You will take ownership of key features and initiatives in designing and building high quality, scalable systems to issue earner payments in an accurate and timely manner. Your work will directly impact the lives of Uber’s partners (drivers, couriers) and operations teams across the globe.
**What the Candidate Will Do**
- Participate in product and engineering jam sessions to conceptualize features and translate them into technical designs
- Build software used by millions of users and thousands of engineers, directly impacting user experience and internal tooling
- Develop platform components for high-throughput distributed systems, primarily using GoLang
- Solve complex engineering problems with elegant, maintainable solutions grounded in software design fundamentals
- Maintain system health by refactoring code, enforcing development hygiene, and ensuring robustness and resilience
- Collaborate in a fast-paced, motivated team environment
- Work cross-functionally with Product, Operations, Data Science, and other engineering teams to achieve business goals
**Basic Qualifications**
- 4+ years of experience as a full stack software engineer (backend + web frontend)
- Proficiency in one or more backend languages (Go, Java, C++, or Python)
- Strong experience with frontend technologies: TypeScript, React, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Familiarity with Redux and GraphQL
- Hands-on experience building production-quality services with deployment, monitoring, and reliability practices
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases (e.g., MySQL, Cassandra)
- Ability to collaborate with technical teams and leadership to define requirements and translate them into product features and designs
- Team-oriented mindset with a growth mentality, open to feedback and collaboration
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Prior experience working across the full stack (frontend, backend, and databases)
- Experience building scalable, high-performance distributed systems
- Familiarity with Spark SQL and Presto query languages
- Knowledge of BaseUI and Styletron styling frameworks
- Experience with Jest and Playwright testing tools
