Job Description:
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
This Solutions Architect will be supporting our General Insurance business as part of the broader Solution Architecture Practice department. TD's General Insurance business is one of the top homes and auto insurance groups in Canada and the national leader in group insurance and affinity marketing. This is a senior independent contributor role that will create business-enabling architectural solutions primarily but not exclusively in the core Policy and Billing Center ecosystem in support of our digital capabilities evolution, collaborating closely with Platform technology teams/pods and business product owners/product groups.
The Architect will design the solution architecture end-to-end, follow enterprise architecture guidelines, work primarily within projects/products, contribute to strategic plans as needed, and lead project/product architecture blueprints at high and low level.
The Architect will develop and maintain solutions and frameworks that are the most efficient, reliable, scalable, and secure to meet business needs and technology strategy; this includes planning, evaluating, recommending and designing architectural solutions in compliance with enterprise standards.
CUSTOMER
Apply a multi-disciplined expertise with database, application, client tiers, layering of software, build, test and deploy strategies to create the overall design of software (including applications, infrastructure, middleware) and guide how the sub-components are developed by different teamsElevate focus on applications and data as differentiators for the customer experience, anchored in sound foundational elements of Infrastructure and PlatformsAdvise on suitability of technology stacks to define principles / key constraints for solution components; rallies the team around these principles to determine security / scalability approach, and impact assessments for future designMonitor and report on progress and collaborate broadly with other practitioners, including designers, engineers, and other applicable business stakeholders to ensure the necessary features for the products and applications are developed within assigned portfolioDesign tests that will be implemented to keep the software functional; supports issue analysis and fix activities during test phases, as well as production issue resolutionCollaborate with Practices, actively driving capability creation; mentoring and training junior colleagues to be adaptive, staying on top of expanding technologies and engineering trends and creating highly visual and functional solutionsSHAREHOLDER

Seasoned individual contributor role with expert knowledge of specific enterprise and/or functional domain(s) and a demonstrated track record working with a broad range of architecture frameworks, technology, tools, processes and proceduresExceptional collaboration, communication, negotiation and client-facing skills (written and verbal)Big-picture thinker, with ability to anticipate architectural gaps and identify emerging trends through both advanced business acumen and highly specialized technical knowledge of TD and its applications, programming languages, industry best practices, Bank standards, infrastructure and architectural design / solutionsArchitect assigned to work autonomously on high profile, complex and/or high-risk technology projects with significant impact to the organizationEXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate (Graduate degree preferred)10+ years relevant experience developing a variety of platforms7+ years of solution architecture experience ideally in the Insurance industryDemonstrated experience with owning and leading architectural solutions in a complex environmentStrong knowledge of Guidewire Suite, including Guidewire Cloud Platform, Policy Center, Billing Center, ideally with relevant certifications with prior experience integrating with GuidewireUnderstanding of DevSecOps and experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Pair programming and / or Test-Driven Development is an asset (i.e., ability to review or provide feedback to Unit, Integration and Functional Tests)Familiarity with SAFe agile methodology an assetKnowledge of AWS/Azure an assetWho We Are:
