Fuel Logistics Intern
Murphy Oil USA
Logistics Specialists will be involved in all aspects of the carrier and fuel terminal relationship, including negotiating costs, site assignments, daily communications, score carding and monitoring carrier adherence to all Murphy USA policies, state and federal regulations. Additionally, the Logistics Specialists act as a liaison with multiple fuel carriers to execute the delivery of fuel products to specific retail locations. This position may also be responsible for some cost and spread analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Review fuel volume track reports to ensure supply contract compliance.
• Conduct ongoing analysis of assigned market area to determine the day's supply strategy based on market move.
• Manage and remediate cross drops and ensure proper billing to the responsible party to recoup costs.
• Interact daily with the trading and scheduling group to determine product availability and plan around product outages to ensure adequate supply to retail locations.
• Conduct analysis to ensure proper purchasing, distribution and transportation of fuel.
• Productive carrier selection, relations and management to ensure less outages and reduce excessive charges and execution issues.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
General PC Knowledge including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, (beginner to intermediate user)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Sophomore level or above (preferably junior level after spring semester or quarter completed)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
GPA of 3.0 or higher
Strong verbal and written communication skills
High level of efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility
Motivated to take on new challenges and learn as much as possible
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to utilize common sense understanding to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, public and other employees of the organization
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Candidate will work closely with members of the Fuel Logistics team while gaining exposure to other departments that support Fuel Pricing within the organization (Analytics, Supply & Logistics, TS, etc)
