The Still Life Art Director brings Free People’s product to life across direct, print, and marketing imagery. Reporting to the Senior Creative Director, this role manages a team of Still Life Stylists, and collaborates closely with photographers, production, merchandising, social, and post-production to ensure all merchandise is styled and captured with intention, cohesion, and adherence to studio guidelines. With a deep understanding of Free People’s evolving brand identity and future vision, the Still Life Art Director translates seasonal narratives and current trends into compelling visual stories that elevate the customer experience.
Role Responsibilities Acts as a visual brand steward, ensuring all still life imagery consistently reflects company values, and aesthetic standards.Partners with Creative, Merchandising, and Marketing teams to translate brand storytelling into compelling still life concepts that resonate with the FP customer.Develops a deep understanding of product, seasonal narratives, and customer insights to inform styling decisions that feel authentic, elevated, and commercially relevant.Leverages tools, references, and production resources to stay informed on campaigns, launches, and omni-channel needs, ensuring visual consistency across platforms.Leads by example in visual storytelling, styling excellence, and on-set collaboration.Directs and mentors stylists, photographers, and creative partners to foster a collaborative, high-performing creative environment.Facilitates creative reviews, pre-production meetings, and on-set walkthroughs to align on styling direction, trends, and brand priorities.Provides constructive feedback and guidance to elevate team skill sets and maintain a high standard of execution across all still life content.Champions an inclusive, people-first creative culture that values collaboration, respect, and diverse perspectives.Builds strong cross-functional partnerships with Merchandising, Creative Strategy, Production, and Marketing teams to ensure alignment from concept through execution.Communicates visual insights, trend observations, and creative opportunities to leadership and Home Office partners.Represents still life creative within internal forums, contributing ideas, solutions, and best practices that support broader brand initiatives.
