Forklift Operator
Job Title: Forklift OperatorJob Description

We are looking for an experienced sit‑down forklift operator to support daily warehouse operations, including loading and unloading materials from semi‑trailers, organizing inventory, and preparing documentation for customer shipments. This position requires strong attention to detail, accuracy in handling products, and effective communication with customers, carriers, and drivers.

ResponsibilitiesOperate a sit‑down forklift to safely load and unload materials.Organize and stage products in the warehouse according to customer requirements.Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments to meet delivery schedules.Prepare shipment documentation, including pick sheets, packing lists, and bills of lading.Receive inbound freight and verify contents against packing lists.Identify and reconcile discrepancies between received products and documentation.Label parts according to customer specifications for accurate tracking.Lift up to 50 lbs when required, though most materials are moved by forklift.Maintain proper separation of food‑based and animal‑food products to prevent cross‑contamination.Perform inventory control tasks and follow work orders.Communicate with customers and carriers to coordinate transportation and resolve issues.Greet drivers, provide loading/unloading instructions, and complete required paperwork.Report shipment‑related issues such as product shortages, damages, or inventory inconsistencies.Maintain ongoing communication with customers regarding inbound and outbound shipments.Perform routine activities such as sitting, standing, walking, reading, writing, and verbal communication.Essential SkillsProficiency operating a sit‑down forklift.At least two years of recent forklift operating experience.Experience in inventory control and general material handling.Strong customer service skills and comfort working in logistics or supply‑chain environments.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with racking systems (preferred).Minimum one year of inventory control experience.Prior experience loading and unloading semi‑trailers.Why Work Here

Work Environment

This position is based in a clean, food‑grade warehouse supporting major clients such as Cargill and Ajinomoto. The team is small, dedicated, and highly collaborative. The role operates on first shift, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with occasional overtime. Dress code includes closed‑toe shoes, jeans, and a T‑shirt.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Oskaloosa, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
