Forklift Operator
**Job Title: Forklift Operator** **Job Description** The Warehouse Operator is responsible for the accurate and efficient handling of inbound and outbound cargo. This includes receiving, documenting, storing, and shipping materials in accordance with company procedures and safety standards. The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment and supporting team operations. **Responsibilities** + Receive, tally, and document incoming cargo. + Inspect shipments for damage, loss, or discrepancies and report issues to the supervisor. + Safely store materials in designated locations and communicate updates to the office for inventory tracking. + Notify office staff upon driver arrival and direct drivers to appropriate loading areas. + Confirm that drivers have the required equipment before loading. + Retrieve pick tickets, select correct cargo, and ensure it is clean, secure, and properly labeled. + Load trucks safely and scan labels to verify shipment accuracy. + Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse and yard. + Clear and clean storage locations after shipments to prepare for new inventory. + Assist in reworking or reorganizing cargo as needed. + Handle all cargo with care and attention to detail. **Essential Skills** + Proficiency in operating forklifts, including sit down forklifts handling loads between 5,000 lbs and 55,000 lbs. + Material handling and general labor experience. + Ability to drive around unbalanced loads such as transformers, steel coils, carpet rolls, and bundles of plywood. + General labor skills including applying plastic wrap to materials, repacks, and stripping containers. + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform heavy lifting. + 4-5 years of relevant experience. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Assist in training new warehouse staff. + Participate in daily housekeeping and upkeep of tools and equipment. + Maintain accountability for radios, tools, and other assigned equipment. + Perform other duties as assigned. **Why Work Here?** Join a large, growing company with 6,000 - 7,000 employees nationwide and benefit from a full benefits package once you become a full-time employee. You will spend around 60% of your day operating a forklift, though some days may require full-day operation. The role involves handling various unbalanced loads and performing general labor tasks. The warehouse environment prioritizes safety, cleanliness, and organization. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
