**Job Title: Forklift Operator**
$17/hr.
**Job Description**
The Forklift Operator is responsible for accurately selecting block/masonry products ordered by customers and safely loading them onto delivery vehicles according to established safe loading procedures. This role includes performing routine maintenance on equipment, ensuring the block yard area is properly maintained and organized, and assisting walk-up customers with loading materials as needed.
**Responsibilities**
+ Observe and unload incoming material, ensuring quantity and type match the bill of lading, and report any discrepancies to the customer service manager.
+ Operate forklift to move, place, and load masonry products.
+ Conduct physical inventory of materials and finished products as needed.
+ Perform routine vehicle checks on front-end loader/forklift and report problems to the mechanic.
+ Perform general housekeeping tasks in and around the plant building and yard, such as sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, and cutting grass.
+ Maintain the overall orderly organization of equipment and supplies in and around the yard and plant.
+ Maintain cleanliness and appearance of plant grounds.
+ Observe all federal, state, local, and company safety policies, procedures, practices, and regulations while performing job duties.
+ Maintain current knowledge of masonry products produced and available for sale.
+ Assist customers with product selection, loading, and safely securing products on private vehicles.
+ Advise office of low inventory products.
+ Perform other duties as directed by the customer service manager.
+ Help with maintenance tasks, including mowing, around the facility.
**Essential Skills**
+ Must have forklift experience.
+ Experience with front-end loader.
+ Proficiency in using various hand and power tools.
+ Ability to handle a water hose and push broom.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Experience in masonry and construction, including brick laying and concrete.
+ General labor skills.

**Work Environment**
The majority of work is performed outside, with exposure to elements such as heat, cold, rain, and dust. The position may involve exposure to rough, muddy, or icy walking surfaces, high noise levels, and vibration. There is frequent exposure to moving parts and pieces of equipment, as well as dust, diesel fuel, propane, and other substances that may be toxic or explosive if handled incorrectly.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Roanoke, Virginia.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $19.00/hr.
