**Job Title: Foreman and Operator** **Job Description** We are seeking two working foremen to join our team, with a focus on grading and utility work. As a foreman, you will oversee a crew of 2-5 people, operate heavy civil machinery, and work on diverse projects including data centers, subdivisions, hospitals, roads, and apartment complexes. You will lead and supervise grading crews to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality site preparation work, interpret site plans and blueprints, and coordinate daily tasks and equipment needs with project managers and site supervisors. **Responsibilities** + Oversee a crew of 2-5 people and ensure efficient workflow. + Operate heavy civil machinery including excavators, rollers, skid steers, dozers, and haul trucks. + Lead grading crews to ensure safe and high-quality site preparation work. + Interpret site plans, blueprints, and grade stakes to establish accurate elevations and slopes. + Coordinate daily tasks, equipment needs, and workflow with project managers and site supervisors. + Perform layout, set grade, and verify accuracy using lasers, GPS systems, and other surveying tools. + Monitor progress to ensure work meets project specifications, timelines, and quality standards. + Conduct daily safety meetings and enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations. + Troubleshoot site issues, adjust plans as needed, and communicate changes to management and crew. + Maintain accurate records of labor, materials, equipment usage, and project milestones. + Train and mentor crew members to enhance skill, efficiency, and teamwork on the job site. **Essential Skills** + Proficiency with all types of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, and loaders. + 4+ years of relevant experience in heavy equipment operation. + Strong in excavation, grading, and site development with 5+ years of experience. + Experience reading civil plans and using GPS grade control systems. + Proven leadership skills to manage crews and subcontractors. + Bilingual abilities are advantageous. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + OSHA 30 certification. + CPR certification. **Why Work Here?** Enjoy the opportunity to become a permanent employee with full benefits, coverage, and certifications. The role is on-site and offers a hands-on experience in a collaborative and dynamic work environment. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Montpelier, VA. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $34.00 - $36.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
