**Food Service Worker - 1st Shift**
**Job Summary:**
The Food Services Worker plays a vital role in delivering high-quality nutritional care to patients. This position involves assembling and customizing patient meal trays based on diet orders and preferences, ensuring timely delivery, and maintaining accurate documentation. The role requires working in a refrigerated environment and providing exceptional customer service to patients and staff.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Assemble and prepare patient meal trays for lunch and dinner according to diet orders and selections.
+ Customize trays with requested items before delivery to patient care units.
+ Set up food service stations for breakfast and assist with tray assembly.
+ Deliver meal trays and snacks to patients, replace missing items, and offer alternatives for regular diets.
+ Refill hot beverages and condiments from hospitality carts.
+ Communicate with nursing staff regarding refused trays or patients not in rooms; document food and liquid intake for selected patients.
+ Retrieve trays from patient rooms, ensuring no personal items remain.
+ Strip food carts and trays, sort and rinse dishes and silverware for washing.
+ Deliver menus to patients, explain the menu process, assist with selections, and recommend alternatives.
+ Complete host round sheets and return menus and documentation to the Hospitality Service Office.
+ Monitor new admissions or diet changes, deliver updated menus and diet awareness cards.
+ Process requests for NOW trays, discharged trays, guest trays, and isolation trays, securing nursing staff sign-off.
+ Maintain inventory and stock hospitality carts and baskets; deliver bulk nourishments as needed.
+ Provide clerical support, including answering phones and following up on requests.
+ Generate standard computer reports and enter patient selections for therapeutic diets.
+ Attend and assist in departmental in-services.
**Essential Skills:**
+ Food preparation and volume cooking experience
+ Strong customer service skills
+ Knowledge of recipes, measuring, and cutting techniques
+ Previous experience in foodservice or as a line cook
**Additional Qualifications:**
+ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
+ Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation

**Work Environment:**
+ Location: Nutritional Services Department, Hospital Setting
+ Shift: 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM
+ Schedule: Released every two weeks
+ Weekend availability required
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Washington, DC.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
