MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.two (2) years of food service experience working in a U.S. military environment.Skills:Must be computer literate and proficient in MS Office software.Must be able to read and speak English.Working Environment: Work is generally conducted in an office or galley environment. Duties, however, may involve the conduct of work outdoors with potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. May be required to work other than standard work hours to ensure effective customer support.Physical Activities:Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. Food Service Laborer performs various functions involving preparation of the salad bar, fruit bar, an serving line. Performs other duties and assignments as required.

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.Responsible for the appropriate handling and storage of all food and supplies; always follow regulations regarding the proper techniques for food handlingMaintain a clean and sanitary workspace at all times in the kitchen and dining areas following established schedules, prescribed methods, and established standardsEnsure accurate meal portioning utilizing correct serving utensilsCollect, wash, and sanitize all pots, pans and utensilsStack clean flatware and trays on carts and deliver to appropriate production or distribution areas within Food ServicesResponsible for stocking dish room with chemical and cleaning suppliesKeep Dish Return Window free of soiled traysAdhere to safety procedures in operating kitchen equipmentFollow a prescribed cycle in emptying trash containersAssist in cleaning spills that are observed or requestedMaintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and carry out repairs when neededPromote team work on a daily basis, communicate and report problems and concerns to the ManagerMaintain a safe environment by following Serve-Safe standardsSupport supervisor in maintaining adequate inventory of food and suppliesApply proper care with table service and equipment, checking for breakage, etc. prior to storing them.Performs other duties and assignments as requiredQualifications
