Job Title: Retail Packaging Product Safety and Quality SpecialistJob Description

Join a dynamic team where you will collaborate with industry experts and cross-functional teams to drive projects from start to finish. This role is integral in continuing a legacy of world-class product safety and quality performance by managing quality signals, product incidents, and supply base management on a daily basis.

ResponsibilitiesAct as a liaison between the packaging engineering team and the Enterprise Spec Management System.Assess suppliers for packaging materials.Track compliance and apply in-depth technical knowledge to projects.Gather insights through testing and supplier assessments across various single-use packaging materials such as poly-coated paperboard and polypropylene.Proactively analyze product and supplier quality signals, metrics, audit data, customer feedback, and regulatory input.Identify trends and lead the investigation and resolution of packaging-related concerns.Interface and influence suppliers and cross-functional teams, including international partners, to deliver results within demanding timelines.Serve as a Retail Food Packaging Product Safety and Quality system expert in the development of new packaging initiatives or operating practices.Essential Skills3-5+ years of experience in packaging and material science with emphasis on plastics, pulp, and paper.Experience in developing and implementing quality programs and product standards.Proven ability in product quality auditing, particularly with materials.Knowledge of Quality Management Systems including HACCP, GMPs, and GFSI and BRC complaint standards.Basic understanding of Food Safety and Quality GFSI requirements.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with packaging engineering, packaging design, and quality assurance.Proficiency in Smartsheet, Microsoft Office Suite, and ServiceNow.Experience in specification management and comfortable reviewing specs and CAD drawings.Strong analytical skills for data-focused tasks.Work Environment

You will work under the food safety quality umbrella, focusing on retail packaging that goes to the customer. The role involves working with a supplier food safety quality team and requires a data-focused approach to analyze complaints and customer responses. The work environment is highly interactive, allowing you to partner with various teams. The position offers a hybrid work model with four days onsite and one remote day (Friday), ensuring a great work-life balance.

This is a Contract position based out of Seattle, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr.
