Focus Factory Manager, TLS
**Purpose of Position** The Focus Factory Manager position is a critical leadership role within Veeder-Root’s Altoona manufacturing facility. This role directs all activities of a high-performance factory utilizing lean manufacturing principles to drive continuous and significant improvements in key operational metrics including safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity. A Focus Factory Manager sets direction based on customer delivery requirements and drives his/her team to meet these requirements. They are responsible for all activities within the focus factory (-ies) that impact the success of the Company and customer satisfaction. **Key Responsibilities** • Ensure a safe working environment for all associates and drive to eliminate any environmental, health, and safety incidents. • Manages the activities of the Factory Production Supervisor(s) to include people leadership and career development. • Influences other operationally critical roles including Manufacturing Engineer(s), Material Planner(s), and Production Planners. • Identify, implement, and track both long- and short-term strategies that ensure positive results in the areas of financial performance, manufacturing excellence, materials management, and inventory control. • Determine and monitor the overall resource capacity (personnel and equipment) for the focus factory and set priorities to maintain production expectations. • Lead regular strategic and operational reviews for the factory. Drive results and effective countermeasures for misses to the plan in all areas, with particular emphasis on Safety and Quality. • Responsible for department budget development and performance. • Maintain good employee relations and adherence to labor contract provisions, takes proper and judicious disciplinary measures when required, assists supervisors in handling first-step grievances, and conducts second-step meetings. • Responsible for successfully leading the launch of new product introductions and projects into the factory. • Maintain and enforce adherence to all Company policies and safety standards. • Management and organizational development of salaried employees within team. • Responsible for driving continuous improvement utilizing VBS (Vontier Business System) principles. Active participation and leadership on continuous improvement teams (kaizens). • Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of manufacturing processes and elimination of wasteful practices within the department. • Stimulates maximum efficiency and productivity of supervisors and production workers. **Background and Skills** • This position requires a minimum of 4 years’ experience in a leadership role in Operations (previous direct supervision of production associates preferred). • Bachelor’s degree required. Technical discipline preferred. • Prior experience in front line supervision highly desired. • Proven track record of driving for results and continuous improvement. • Prior experience utilizing Lean / Six Sigma tools desired.
