What You'll Do as Floor Technician:

Maintain hard surface floors by buffing, stripping, and refinishing floors. Clean baseboards, corners, and doors. Perform finishing techniques to protect floors. Vacuum and low moisture/extract cleaning carpets to remove dirt and stains. Wipe down doors, furniture, vent covers, and equipment as needed. Perform special cleaning assignments; determine appropriate cleaning chemical used to clean various surfaces such as vinyl, paint, ceramic; concrete, carpet, metal, brick, wood, and rubber surfaces. Maintain floor care equipment to include minor repairs and adequate chemical supplies needed to complete tasks. Read and fully understand the “Material Safety Data Sheets” (MSDS) for all chemicals and solutions used in processes and procedures. Follow all facility safety policies and procedures and comply with City, State, and Federal agency requirements.

What You'll Need:

High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of one (1) year prior experience as a janitor, custodian, or similar preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Ability to use general cleaning equipment such as mops, brooms, pails, buffers, vacuums, fans, etc., as outlined in procedures to ensure proper usage and safety. Ability to utilize a variety of different floor care and project work related equipment and tools. Ability to read and understand service requests, container labels, product information, and directions on cleaning chemicals and other materials. Ability to work as a team member and independently to complete daily tasks. Ability to assist and communicate with others as needed and establish effective working relationships.

Other Requirements:

Ability to pass criminal, drug, and driving screening. Possess valid driver’s license and maintain good driving record. Ability to move about the facility approximately 90% of the time during working hours. Ability to be exposed to various dirt, debris, and odors, as well as cleaning chemicals. Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays. If required, ability to obtain and maintain security clearance and base access to assigned site(s).
