The Flight Software Engineer III will engage in all aspects of the software life cycle, including concept development, requirements definition, design, development, testing, and deployment of flight software to support ongoing and future small satellite programs. A strong working knowledge of embedded software development using C++ is essential, as is a background in developing flight code on embedded processors. Familiarity with real-time operating systems and both asymmetric and symmetric multiprocessing architectures is required. The candidate should be comfortable working in an Agile Scrum environment.
ResponsibilitiesParticipate in the full software life cycle for flight software development.Develop embedded software using C++ for small satellite programs.Implement client-server applications using socket I/O with TCP/UDP.Develop loosely coupled applications using PUB/SUB messaging.Lead a team in the development of spacecraft flight software.Utilize software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, and automated build processes.Apply software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum.Create software designs using SysML/UML.Test and debug on Software in the Loop (SITL) and Hardware in the Loop (HITL) environments.Manage source code configuration using platforms like GIT and SVN.Optimize computer system performance, including timing optimization.Develop and configure network systems, including netconf.Essential Skills6 or more years of experience in coding and software development.Strong technical understanding of C++ and Object-Oriented Programming.Experience with spacecraft flight software development.Knowledge of software design patterns and development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum.Experience with real-time operating systems and multiprocessing architectures.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Open Standards such as CCSDS, C2MS, OMS, and UCI.Experience in mission management and payload control software development.Experience developing on Linux.Embedded programming experience, including new board build-up.Experience optimizing computer system performance for timing.Work EnvironmentThe work environment offers a dynamic and innovative atmosphere where employees can participate in groundbreaking projects within the commercial space industry.
