Job Title: Flight Controls Engineer
Job Description
Join a dynamic team to design and develop flight control systems, contributing to advanced aerospace projects with a focus on safety-critical software and hardware solutions.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, and analyze flight control laws such as attitude, rate, velocity, and guidance-level control.Create and maintain MATLAB/Simulink models for control law development and simulation.Support model-based development (MBD) workflows, including requirements traceability and verification.Integrate and test control algorithms within ROS 2-based software frameworks.Contribute to path planning and trajectory generation logic, ensuring compatibility with control architectures.Perform simulation-based validation (SIL/MIL) and support real-time or hardware-adjacent testing as needed.Collaborate with autonomy, navigation, and software teams to ensure control performance and system stability.Document control designs, assumptions, test results, and analysis to support program needs.Essential Skills
At least 3 years of hands-on experience designing or implementing flight control laws for aerospace systems.Strong proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for control law modeling and simulation.Working knowledge of ROS 2 in a robotics, autonomy, or flight-control-adjacent context.Professional exposure to path planning or trajectory generation concepts and how they interface with control systems.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Solid understanding of aircraft dynamics and control theory, including classical and modern control methods.Experience validating control algorithms in simulation environments.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.Experience with ROS 2 control frameworks, real-time considerations, or distributed systems.Knowledge of aerospace development standards such as DO-178 and ARP4761.Programming experience in C++ or Python for control or simulation support.Work Environment
This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from home with client assistance available as needed.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Phoenix, AZ.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $65.00/hr.
