Fleet Technician - Level 3

Location: 1410 Gordon Food Service Dr, Plant City FL

Gordon Food Service takes pride in delivering seamless order processing and delivery to our customers. Our 11 fleet shops across the US maintain over 3,000 tractors and trailers (reefer units) for our private, company-owned fleet. 

As a GFS Certified Technician (Advanced Skill Level), you will play a critical role in ensuring fleet safety and reliability through accurate diagnosis of common faults and completion of a broad range of repairs. This position is designed for a skilled technician who operates with a high level of independence, requires limited supervision, and collaborates with team members as needed to resolve complex issues. The Certified Technician role represents a key step in the GFS technician career path, offering opportunities to expand technical expertise, complete advanced training, and progress toward Master-level technician responsibilities.

Schedule:

Second Shift 4 days a Week

Sunday - Friday Starting at 5:30 PM.

Pay: Depending on experience

Essential Functions:

Inspects, maintains, and repairs Diesel engines, Gas Engines, refrigeration units, and all systems/components related to heavy-duty tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.

Performs and interprets diagnostic testing to determine malfunctions on all equipment types.

Performs daily inspection and preventative maintenance of equipment and follow-up on driver’s write-ups to make repairs as necessary.

Performs general cutting and welding as necessary.

Makes road calls to repair equipment as necessary.

Assists in the repair of shop equipment including garage doors and all power tools.

Operates company vehicles to transport technicians, equipment, and parts to and from vendors, garages, and other fleet locations as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned.

You must be 18 years of age or older.

Must be able to work holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed - holidays are very important to our customers!

We have frozen products - your ability to work in extremely cold or hot conditions is required while you’re here.

Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English (to read labels, pick lists, scanners, signage, company website information related to benefits, updates, complete paperwork, and follow verbal instructions).

Successfully pass a drug test that will assess drug usage and a background check.

Valid Class A CDL

Physical requirements include lifting up to 100 pound
