Job Title: Fleet Compliance Manager

Location: Dublin

Full-time: Permanent

Salary: €45,000.00  - €55,000

 

Job Summary:

In this role you will manage and co-ordinate the DC’s Fleet activities, develop and implement strategies to provide a level of service to the DC that meets or surpasses expectation. You will be responsible to ensure that the Dublin HGV fleet is maintained to the correct standard, meet the daily needs of the distribution centre, ensure the fleet meets compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements whilst balancing the business needs against the cost to meet budgets and delivery schedules. Looking after O-License and H&S Compliance/Contractor Management, Data reporting and budget/cost optimization.

Major duties & responsibilities:

Ensure the provision of a comprehensive Fleet Management service to Site Management, which is in line with central established policies.Management of contractors, ensuring work quality and cost effectiveness to meet the requirements of the operation. To assist the Distribution Manager with the formulation of annual budgets. To keep aware of industry standards and new design developments, making recommendations for efficiency and cost improvements. Influence and coach depot personnel to improved fleet efficiency.The control of all maintenance and repair procedures and practices covering commercial vehicles. Maintenance of all Health and Safety policies covering the use of equipment.Advising and auditing Site Control procedures for the safe and legal operation of commercial vehicles.To advise and support sites in the actions required to complete accident repairs to meet the requirements of insurers.Ensuring full compliance of our O license.Scheduling of all equipment for service or repairs.Ensuring that the daily availability of equipment meets the operational needs.  Raising and control of purchase orders for maintenance invoices.Communication with suppliers to minimise equipment downtime.Looking after defect repairs.Checking and agreeing defects.Questioning and challenging suppliers over repair times and cost.Cost centre budget control.Supplier meetings.Monitoring compliance of Health & Safety by supplier’s staff when on site.Maintain vehicle history files and ensure compliance with legislation.Provide statistical analysis of cost to the transport manager to assist with cost reduction.

 

Profile:

Previous experience within a fleet supervisory/management positionCalm under pressure, with good activity planning and organisational skillsStrong H&S awareness with a passion to improve performance in this areaTrack record of keeping to service and cost commitmentsInnovative approach, forward thinking, able to think ‘outside the box’ and generate new opportunities for improvement. · A team player and team builderStrong attention to detailAbility to set and deliver against challenging performance targets and budgetsExperience of unionised environmentsA flexible approach to working hours; to meet the needs of the businessPrevious experience in HVG mechanical maintenance · Experience in contract negotiation
Qualifications

Technical Competences:

HGV class 1 licence (Desirable)HND or City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Mechanical experience (Desirable)  Experience of Microsoft packages – Intermediate Level (Desirable)Strong Excel and Fleet maintenance systems capability.Regulatory knowledge.Contract management and Supplier performance experienceAwareness of all current and pending industry legislation and developments (Essential)
