🔧 Position Overview
A leading defense contractor is seeking experienced Shipfitters to join its fabrication team supporting high-impact naval construction projects. This role is ideal for professionals with at least 5 years of experience in shipfitting or the welding/fabrication industry. You'll be responsible for precision layout, fitting, and assembly of prefabricated components, as well as machining and welding preparation for advanced naval vessels.
🛠 Key ResponsibilitiesLay out, fit, align, and assemble cast and forged components prior to welding, soldering, brazing, or bondingPerform machining operations such as straightening, grinding, burring, drilling, reaming, and countersinking to close tolerancesSelect equipment and materials based on general instructions and job specificationsSet up and prepare materials for welding, ensuring proper alignment and fit-upRepair or rework parts distorted by welding to restore required tolerancesMonitor and verify product quality using statistical process control or other inspection proceduresRead and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding symbolsCollaborate with welders, engineers, and supervisors to meet production goalsMaintain safety standards and adhere to all OSHA and company protocols

This is a Contract position based out of Goose Creek, SC.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $27.08 - $44.18/hr.
