**Description** AITS is looking for a 1st shift Fitter / Fabricator that has experience in an Aerospace, Military or prototype facility. They are looking for someone with 5+ years experience that can come in and perform Fitting for the welding process. Prefer someone that has come from a background that is assembling structural frameworks. Fitting/ Fabrication Blueprint Reading Steel Aluminum & Invar Thick Tubing The Fitter is responsible for assembling structural frameworks and housings from raw material. They prepare and fabricate metal components for the welding process. • Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications, using squares, rulers, and measuring tapes. • Align and fit parts according to specifications, using jacks, turnbuckles, wedges, drift pins, pry bars, and hammers. • Set up and operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, rolls, shears, flame cutters, grinders, and drill presses, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components. • Position or tighten braces, jacks, clamps, ropes, or bolt straps, or bolt parts in position for welding or riveting. • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter using hand scrapers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment. • Review any parts received from kitting area and compare the parts to the print. • Fabricating and revising fixtures, jigs, and gauges. • Operate and/or use forklifts, cranes, hoists, slings, grinders, cutting torches, hand tools, drills, punches, and instruments of measurements. Candidates who are straight out of welding school.
