Finishing Trainer

Introduction
The Finishing Trainer is responsible for developing skills and knowledge within the finishing department. This role supports employee growth by delivering standardized training, assessing effectiveness, and reducing variation caused by differing operator methods and performance. The Finishing Trainer helps individuals reach their potential while supporting consistency, quality, and operational excellence.


Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Partner with the Team Leader and Finishing Manager to manage training for packers, feeders, palletizers, and machine operators
• Provide input to the Team Leader during performance evaluation periods
• Document all training activities and maintain training records in appropriate folders
• Maintain a flexible schedule with the ability to work day or night shifts as needed
• Prioritize training efforts based on departmental needs
• Use element trees to break down job tasks into detailed steps for training, assessment, and auditing
• Promote a flexible, highly skilled workforce and encourage continuous learning and career development
• Provide a consistent, measurable training process to document and track job skills, including identifying employees qualified to train others
• Train employees across all skill levels for feeder, packer, operator, and machine operator roles on all applicable equipment
• Continuously evaluate team member performance, identify skill gaps, and implement improvement actions
• Monitor and update progress of team member training and performance
• Train team members on proper completion of required paperwork
• Ensure understanding and adherence to all quality procedures
• Ensure proper procedures are followed for rejection of raw materials


Qualifications
• Minimum of five years of manufacturing experience operating equipment
• Two or more years of folding carton converting experience preferred
• Strong communication skills with the ability to train others patiently and effectively
• Knowledge of quality assurance systems used on operating equipment
• Intermediate computer skills, including email and data entry
• Demonstrated accuracy, reliability, sound decision-making, time management, and self-motivation
• Willingness to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during peak periods
• Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
