Aston Carter's large client in Calgary is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in accordance with regulatory requirements and company policies. This role will involve collaborating with various departments across the organization to gather financial data, analyze results, and prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation and distribution of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other reports as required.Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), and other relevant regulatory requirements.Applying accounting principles to complex transactions and drafting technical memos.Support auditors with year end and interim audit.Define accounting policies at the group level.Support with amalgamation of entities including short fiscal close and change in functional and reporting currency changes.Support ERP implementation activities.Drive and support post-acquisition integrations both in accounting and consolidation and systems.Coordinate the financial reporting process, including the consolidation of financial data from multiple business units or subsidiaries.Review and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement, providing insights and recommendations to management.Collaborate with internal and external auditors to facilitate the audit process and address any findings or recommendations.Develop and maintain financial reporting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.Stay informed about changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices, and communicate implications to key stakeholders.Lead and mentor a team of financial analysts or reporting specialists, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback as needed.Additional Skills and Qualifications
Must Haves:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldCPA designation10+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting and accountingLarge Public Company experience OR Big 4 Audit experience5+ years of management experience with a team of 3+ peopleStrong technical knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, ASPE and other accounting standards, with the ability to apply principles to complex financial transactions.Experience with Oracle or SAPAdvanced MS Excel knowledgeNice to Haves:

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $135000.00/hr.
