Financial Analyst Level 1

This position is a two-year contract.

PURPOSE

As an integral part of the finance team, the Financial Analyst acts as a business partner in information management, analysis and preparation of reports that helps decision-making. The incumbent will support day-to-day operations, aiming  to improve account reconciliation processes and financial controls; maintain and improve internal reports, complete business initiatives, while working closely with all members of management and teams in the organization.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

Establish daily variances for financial flow entries, performing the required analyses, making needed corrections where necessary, and then communicating the explanations to the main stakeholders concerned Prepare periodical statistical reporting, including financial performance, variance explanations, and cost analysis Review daily transactions and calculate profitability for the business and products Act as an expert on his or her area of responsibility, by mastering the understanding of the processes in place and clearly documenting the workflow surrounding flow entries Support ad hoc requests and analyses by creating and running reports, searching for information in the ledger, investigating transactions and communicating with other departments Contribute to the annual budget process based on the organization’s needs Participate in various process optimization projects Performs other duties as assigned

TECHNICAL / PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCIES (EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE)

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Accounting, Finance) Minimum 1 year of working experience in a similar role Strong Excel skills (knowledge of Power Query is an asset.) Knowledge of an ERP system is an asset Experience working with Navision is an asset WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO Office located in Downtown Montreal, allowing for on-site and/or hybrid work. The role replaces the Financial Analyst – Treasury and involves managing expense reports in Concur for employees outside Quebec and in the United States, and communicating with suppliers for payment processing. Bilingual proficiency in English and French is required to ensure clear communication and accuracy in documentation across regions.
