Financial Analyst

Our client, a growing professional services organization operating at the intersection of legal and corporate services, is seeking an experienced Senior Financial Services Officer / Senior Financial Analyst to join their finance team in Halifax, NS on a 4–4.5 month contract.
This role will provide critical support during a peak operational period, including T4 processing, fiscal year-end, and audit preparation. The successful candidate will be hands-on, adaptable, and comfortable stepping into a fast-paced environment where collaboration and accuracy are key.

Maintain the general ledger and prepare month-end financial statementsManage accounts payable, including invoice processing and paymentsServe as the primary banking contact, including:
Monthly bank reconciliationsCash flow management and overdraft avoidanceEnsuring service offices are adequately fundedPrepare and submit HST rebatesSupport year-end financial reporting and tax form preparationPerform trust accountingProvide backup payroll support as neededAssist with budgeting and forecasting activitiesPartner closely with the CFO on day-to-day financial operationsWork within Sage, a case management system, and Microsoft OfficeQualifications5–8 years of progressive experience in accounting or financeExperience in professional services or legal environments is an asset but not requiredStrong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statementsComfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environmentStrong communication and interpersonal skills — this is a high-touch role with frequent internal and external interactionHands-on, adaptable, and collaborative with an “all hands on deck” mindset
