Job Title: Financial Analyst
Job Description
The Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the Halifax Operations through a balanced portfolio of financial management, business support, and operational analytics. This position offers a unique blend of responsibilities, with 50% of the role focused on finance-related tasks such as month-end reporting, budgeting, and financial analysis, and the remaining 50% dedicated to supporting business operations, including costing, quality investigations, planning, logistics, and tool/report development. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical capabilities, hands-on experience with SAP, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional groups including Finance, Operations, Quality, Planning, Logistics, and Taxation.
Responsibilities
Perform monthly financial reviews, recoveries analysis, and support month-end reporting.Complete budget preparation, long-range planning updates, and depreciation simulations.Maintain and extract financial data using SAP and related reporting tools.Create and close internal orders for project-based financial activities.Conduct journal entry preparation for capital and other areas.Generate financial reporting packages and support ad hoc financial requests.Provide support for financial statement consolidation and government grant invoice reconciliations.Drive improvements in reporting packages, processes, and data visibility.Manage assets under construction, financial asset forms, reclassifications, and capital tooling and asset counts.Facilitate tax submissions and government grant backup packages.Reconcile grant-related invoicing using SAP and other tools.Evaluate and investigate quality issues and support monthly forecasting and variance explanations.Support the development of reports and methods to improve forecasting, visibility, and operational KPIs.Collaborate with Data Analytics teams on Power BI enhancements and dashboard development.Resolve costing issues and support labor/shop rate, routing, and work center reviews.Support inventory reconciliation and participate in scrap evaluation and communication with business partners.Analyze work-in-progress movement reports and provide frequent ad hoc support to various teams.Essential Skills
3+ years of experience in financial analysis, operational finance, cost analysis, or related fields.Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related discipline.Strong hands-on working knowledge of SAP (Finance & Operations modules) and Excel-based reporting.Experience supporting financial month-end closing, budgeting cycles, and cost analysis.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large data sets.Demonstrated ability to collaborate across Finance, Operations, and Business units.Excellent communication skills with the ability to present analysis to non-financial stakeholders.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in manufacturing, operations, aerospace, or industrial environments.Familiarity with tools such as NIP, ECAR, Ariba, BPS, P2P, and operational dashboards.Exposure to Power BI, automation initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.Experience with government tax programs or government grant reconciliations.Demonstrated capability to develop or improve reporting methodologies.Work Environment
This role is part of the Canadian Manufacturing Organization, supporting the engineering and manufacturing departments that produce components for engines. The team operates across various locations, including Longeuil, Mirabel, Lethbridge, Mississauga, and Halifax. The finance/accounting team consists of 9 members, including a team of 5 from Poland. The work schedule includes 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home, totaling 40 hours per week.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr.
