Financial AccountantFinancial Accountant opportunity reporting into the Senior Accountant.This is a hands-on role within the Financial Control team, offering scope to lead month-end close, compliance, and reporting processes, while influencing financial outcomes and driving continuous improvement.
We are looking for a candidate with solid accounting experience, ideally from a commercial or corporate finance environment, who is comfortable taking ownership of core financial control responsibilities. This role is well suited to an experienced accountant seeking impact, autonomy, and exposure across a broad financial control remit in a collaborative environment.
What are my accountabilities?Lead monthly Balance Sheet reviews and detailed P&L analysis, resolving anomalies and ensuring accuracy
Perform hands-on month-end processing, including journals for prepayments, accruals, WIP, contractor costs and intercompany transactions
Prepare and post key journals in line with accounting standards and internal controls
Deliver timely financial reports and dashboards (P&L, DSO, KPI metrics) to support decision-making
Perform thorough balance sheet reconciliations and reviews with strong analytical judgement and attention to detail
Assist in quarter-end and year-end close, support the external audit process, and assist in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements
Assist with tax obligations, including GST, FBT and income tax returns, while keeping up to date with relevant legislation
Manage billing reconciliations across CMS, Darwin, Salesforce and SAP systems
Manage ABS surveys on a quarterly basis, ensuring accurate and complete financial data is provided
Collaborate with shared services to ensure accurate and efficient month-end close and reporting
About you:CPA/CA qualified or currently progressing
Solid accounting experience, ideally within a commercial or corporate finance environment
Strong exposure to financial control responsibilities, including month-end close and intercompany accounting
Hands-on experience with month-end processing and a strong understanding of accounting principles
Proven ability to perform detailed P&L and balance sheet reviews with strong attention to detail
Advanced Excel skills (Power Query essential)
Strong understanding of statutory accounting and tax compliance
Experience across month-end, quarter-end, and annual reporting cycles
High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to independently investigate and resolve financial anomalies
Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with business units and shared services
Proven ability to maintain, document, and improve financial controls
