Finance Specialist - Accounts Payable and Bank

If this sounds like you, and the career below sounds exciting, we’d like to hear from you. **We are looking for someone with:** • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent work experience • Typically, 3 to 5 years of experience. • Demonstrates a working knowledge of accounting rules, regulatory rules and/or business processes as it pertains to the accountant's sphere of responsibility (e.g., a set of regulatory filings or account reconciliations) • Demonstrates broad based analytical and inquiry skills to understand legal entity financial statements, board reports, and/or filings. • Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of several specific reporting concepts as they relate to a specific area of focus (for example: specific footnote disclosures) • Effective interaction and communication skills to communicate issues to management and collaborate with colleagues. • Demonstrates a commitment to attain a working knowledge of CGAAP, USGAAP, and NAIC accounting bases as they pertain to the insurance industry in general. • Demonstrates a working knowledge of the life insurance regulatory environment (SEC Product Filings, OFSI, or Statutory compliance). • Strong computer skills and an advanced knowledge of MS Excel and the Essbase add-in • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Lawson accounting segments and Essbase roll ups. • Demonstrates proficiency with JETS to create and post journal entries. • Demonstrates strong organization and documentation skills to evidence a clear audit trail for work performed **On the job you will: ** • Responsible for performing advanced accounting activities such as creating standard and non-standard journal entries, reconciling complex general ledger accounts, and preparing state filings, footnotes, and financial statement pages. • Also, responsible for analyzing financial results, detecting aberrations and providing commentary with respect to specific areas of focus. • Makes recommendations for process improvements. • Responsible for performing accounting activities such as creating standard and non-standard journal entries, reconciling complex general ledger accounts, and preparing state filings, footnotes, and financial statement pages. • Responsible for analyzing financial results, detecting aberrations and providing commentary with respect to specific areas of focus. • Shows a moderate degree of proficiency with reporting and analysis tools. • Works on semi-structured assignments based on existing practices and within guidelines. • Mentors staff accountants. • Compile ad hoc accounting and analyses for other business partners • Assist with internal and external audits • Shares best practices with other team members and makes recommendations for process improvements • Assists directors, managers and other team members on various projects and analyses **Working Arrangement:** Hybrid **What motivates you?** • You obsess about customers, listen, engage and act for their benefit • You think big, with curiosity to discover ways to use your agile mindset and enable business outcomes • You thrive in teams, and enjoy getting things done together • You take ownership and build solutions, focusing on what matters • You do what is right, work with integrity and speak up • You share your humanity, helping us build a diverse and inclusive work environment for everyone  **Our commitment to you** •  Our mission; to be a part of making Decisions Easier and Lives Better • A leadership team dedicated to your growth and success  • A bold ambition and set of goals to be a leader in driving transformation in our industry • Our best.
