Finance SOX Auditor
Jefferson Wells is seeking an Auditor for a client of ours in Northwest Ohio. This would be a 3-4 month contract engagement working with our client and require a hybrid work schedule. **Job Title: SOX Auditor - Finance and Operations** **Location: Northwest Ohio** **Pay Range: $60-65/hr** **Position Summary:** We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced **SOX Auditor** to support our internal controls and compliance efforts across finance and operations. This role will focus on **Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) testing** for key financial processes including **Leases, Taxes, Revenue, Procurement, Payroll, and Financial Reporting.** The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with **SOX audits in dynamic, customer-facing industries** , and be comfortable navigating complex operational workflows and digital systems. **Key Responsibilities:** + **Revenue & Cash Controls** + Test controls over ticketing systems, season passes, memberships, and POS transactions. + Evaluate cash handling procedures and safeguards across multiple park or venue locations. + **Procurement & Vendor Management** + Assess purchasing workflows, vendor onboarding processes, and contract compliance. + Validate accuracy of vendor payments and adherence to approval protocols. + **Payroll & HR Processes** + Review onboarding/offboarding controls, timekeeping accuracy, and payroll calculations. + Test controls related to seasonal workforce management and scheduling. + **Financial Reporting & Close** + Perform testing of journal entry approvals, account reconciliations, and close procedures. + Ensure documentation and control effectiveness for month-end and year-end processes. + **Compliance & Risk Management** + Execute SOX testing for financial reporting controls and operational compliance. + Review health and safety protocols, insurance coverage, and incident tracking systems. + **Digital Transformation Controls** + Evaluate controls over AI-driven guest experience platforms, data analytics, and mobile apps. + Ensure data integrity, privacy compliance, and system reliability. + **Lease Accounting** + Test compliance with ASC 842 or IFRS 16 standards. + Validate lease classification, recognition, and payment tracking controls. + **Tax Compliance** + Review controls over sales/use tax calculations, income tax reporting, and property tax management. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CIA preferred. + 3–5 years of SOX audit experience, ideally in **retail or hospitality industry** sectors. + Strong understanding of internal controls, risk assessment, and financial processes. + Excellent communication, analytical, and documentation skills.
