• Approval of low to medium complexity Insurance Accounting calculations and/or journals completed by analysts, such as, premium & claims adjustments, unclosed business, DAC, IBNR and commission.
• Maintenance of models used in Insurance Accounting calculations.
• Preparation of medium to high complexity Insurance Accounting journals, which include those requiring sound estimates / judgments.
• Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, with particular focus on high complexity items, including detailed investigations, monitoring of aged / unusual reconciliation items, and clearing of required adjustments.
• Respond to queries related to business units handled or assigned tasks, with minimal supervision from the team leader.
• Ensure the services are delivered per SLA and maintain quality of work.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to analysts within the assigned sub-team and supervise their deliverables.
• Contribute major initiatives to streamline, automate or improve processes, systems and approaches with adequate support.

Qualifications
Knowledge
• Advanced knowledge of Finance and Accounting principles and practices
• Working knowledge of General Accounting function, and other related processes, procedures and solutions
• Intermediate knowledge of appropriate regulatory and statutory frameworks
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Insurance industry and QBE's business
• Intermediate knowledge and experience of multinational organisations and dealing with global transactions and arrangements
• Extensive knowledge of Financial systems (e.g. Oracle platform, Blackline)
Skills
• Strong skills in spreadsheets, data analysis and reconciliation procedures
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• High proficiency in MS tools
• Very good attention to detail
• Ability to work on a local and global team, as well as collaborate with people at different levels within the organization to accomplish a common goal
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage, prioritize and effectively meet deadlines working on multiple assignments simultaneously.
• Intermediate to advanced problem-solving skills and analytical skills
• Excellent presentation skills
• Can perform with minimal supervision from Team Leader
Experience
• At least 2-3 years' work experience in a similar role in the finance industry
• Must be a College graduate, with a relevant degree in Accounting or Finance
• Preferably with 2 years’ audit, insurance and/or shared services experience
• CPA is an advantage
